Kamiak percussion beats competition

Kamiak Winter Percussion’s Ryan O'Connor, junior Josh McAdams, sophomore Aaron Dibble, senior Timmy Mitchell, sophomore Chance Monaghan, senior Jake Cunningham and junior Alex Stewart perform at the Performing Arts Premier Clinic and Performance in Vancouver, Wash.



Mukilteo was well represented at the 2012 Northwest Association for Performing Arts Premier Clinic and Performance at Evergreen High School in Vancouver, Wash.  The drum performances were held on Saturday, Feb. 11.  

Kamiak High School participated in the Percussion Scholastic Open Class Division and stood out as the fan favorite with a triumphant first place finish with their performance of "This Fragmented Life."  

Directed by Andy Wray, Kamiak led the Open Class field with a score of 77.70, followed by Grants Pass High School with a score of 72.50, third place went to South Ridge High School with a score of 70.35.  

Mukilteo's Christian Santangelo, a Kamiak graduate and currently a student at Linfield College, performed with the Percussion Scholastic World Class Group, Oregon Crusaders Indoor.  

The OCI Drum Line put on an impressive show and scored first place, unopposed with a score of 75.85.
