2nd statewide animal shelter open house Oct. 5
Take a field trip to the local animal shelter – PAWS in Lynnwood – on Saturday, Oct. 5, during Pawsitive Alliance’s second Statewide Shelter Open House.
Pawsitive Alliance is working with animal shelters across Washington state for this event in order to promote and help them grow their adopter, donor and volunteer bases — and to raise awareness of the work they do for animals in need.
This event spotlights animal shelters across Washington state and the homeless animals in their care.
Sixteen animal shelters will be opening up their doors to host an Open House and bring community members in as honored guests — and introduce them to animals looking for their forever homes.
PAWS is the closest animal shelter to Mukilteo, at 15305 44th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. Call 425-787-2500 for more information.
The Pawsitive Alliance website, www.pawsitivealliance.org, has a list of the activities and specials participating shelters have planned for their Open House "pawties."
In Washington state, 40,000-60,000 kitties, puppies, cats and dogs are euthanized each year due to lack of space.
Pawsitive Alliance is working hard to bring awareness to the needs of local shelters and their homeless animals.
Participating shelters for the first Statewide Shelter Open House in 2012 saw a 25 percent increase in adoptions during Open House day and a surge of traffic at their facility during and following the Open House weekend.
Pawsitive Alliance hopes to double that success this year.
