Church to host an open house
Over 14 months ago our church building was burned by arson. From the first day, the outpouring of care from the community was incredible. Many of the various churches in the area offered their buildings for our use. Local organizations offered their services and facilities.
These expressions of charity made the tragedy of losing our building so much easier.
It has been emotionally uplifting to feel the concern from our neighbors and friends. They have truly shown that they honor the words of Jesus Christ who taught “This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you” and “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”
Last Spring, we broke ground and began construction of our new building. You have probably seen the work in progress, since we are on a busy corner next to Kamiak High School. The building is now finished, and we will be using it this week for our first Sunday services.
On Saturday, Jan. 21, we will have an Open House from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. This event is for all of the community to see and tour the building on the inside, not just the outside. All ages are welcome.
There will also be music throughout the day, with some from the programs at Kamiak High School.
We are truly blessed to live in an area with so many good people. We are thankful to the Pointe of Grace church for providing space for our Scouts and to the YMCA for space for scripture classes for high-school youth.
We thank the many churches, organizations and individuals for their support during the 14 months of re-building.
The building itself has been a landmark in the past and we look forward to, once again, being a hub for community service – even a kick-off point for the Lighthouse Parade! Please come and join us at the Open House as a “Thank You” from our members for all of your support, prayers and expressions of love and care. We look forward to seeing you there.
