The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is looking for adult volunteers to participate in the 4th annual MLK Day of Service project on Martin Luther King Day, Monday January 21.

Schools close in honor of Dr. King’s memory and students volunteer their time that day helping someone else with chores and tasks.

RSVP joins with the United Way, Catholic Community Services Volunteer Chore Program, the YMCA and its Minority Achiever Program (MAP) to make this possible.

Adult volunteers work as coaches or mentors to middle and high school students who participate willingly in this effort.

You are with the students as they do routine household chores for elderly or disabled clients or work on projects like painting at a local senior center.

This provides you and the teens a chance to learn about each other and help someone else at the same time.

The project hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and work locations are all over the county.

No matter where you live there is something close to your home. You are not expected to give rides to the teen volunteers.

There is training (one hour). It takes place on Tuesday January 15 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., at the United Way, 3120 McDougall Ave, Everett, 98201 in Suite 200.
