Three arrests have been made in the Snohomish County “obituary burglaries”.
Nathan Shields, 37, and Corey Arendt, 21, both of Lake Stevens, were arrested Tuesday and booked on charges of criminal conspiracy to commit burglary.
Thomas McGrath, 58, of Granite Falls was arrested May 10 and booked on charges of possession of stolen property – 3rd degree, possession of a controlled substance and manufacture of a controlled substance.
Detectives recovered stolen items from all three men’s residences, and found evidence of methamphetamine and marijuana at McGrath’s house.
From December 2011 through March 2012, Snohomish County experienced a series of burglaries seemingly related to obituary postings.
Victims had attended funerals for family members and returned home to find their residences burglarized.
The investigation into the burglaries continues and detectives anticipate further arrests will be made.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office has been working with the support of Marysville Police Department in their investigation.
