Businesses fair better under Chamber’s umbrella | Chamber Corner
Each year, we evaluate our mission statement, which says, “The Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce is an organization dedicated to promoting business development and economic growth in the greater Mukilteo area.”
That, along with our vision statement – “...[we] work to build and support a thriving business community” – provides a plum line for our annual membership goals, chamber programs and community outreach.
Business or industry leaders not currently involved with the Chamber may ask questions such as, “What are the benefits of Chamber membership?” or “How can I make time for one more financial or scheduling commitment?”
The easy answer is that the return on investment (ROI) by far outweighs any drawbacks to membership. Here’s why.
Chambers of commerce keep their fingers on the pulse of the business community, both locally and regionally. Economic opportunities and outcomes directly affect our members, so we provide leadership and shared vision when it comes to programming, ongoing educational prospects and ways to effectively market our business partners.
For years, the Mukilteo Chamber has and continues to offer networking options such as Breakfast at the Staybridge and Business After Hours. We host ongoing education classes with specific topics for our business community, both members and non-members. Each summer, we partner with other organizations in our area to offer community driven events such as Outdoor Summer Movies, the Community Car Show and more.
Most recently, we established two new programs that bring value to Chamber membership: Next Generation: Mukilteo (young professionals) and Travel With The Chamber. Both additions foster greater exposure for our members, develop a sturdy network of contacts and create a sense of community.
Another question sometimes posed: “Will Chamber membership help me make more money?”
Simply, no. We have no direct control over how successful your business will be. What we provide is opportunity, a landscape for businesses to enjoy a healthy commercial environment, leadership education for small business owners and networking opportunities for professional colleagues to engage with others. We offer marketing exposure, credibility and, when appropriate, advocacy. These are effective tools for businesses to use and benefit from.
As with any organization, collaboration and relationships play a key role in achieving a cohesive, strong business community. The Mukilteo Chamber is an umbrella that offers businesses a way to flourish and grow in an ever-evolving economic climate.
