Red Tails, Silver Wings

 

5-8 p.m. Opening reception in the main gallery at the Schack Art Center in Everett. Exhibit runs through Feb. 25. Paintings and drawings by artist Chris Hopkins capture the history of America's first African American fighter squadron, the Tuskegee Airmen.

"Black Aviation through World War II"

 

7 p.m. Artist Chris Hopkins and historian Guy E. Franklin discuss the story of the Tuskegee Airmen in studios one and two at the Schack Art Center in Everett.

Welsh set dance taught

 

7 p.m. Sno-King International Folk Dance Club. Request dancing for the first half hour. At 7:30 p.m., Diane and Clint will teach Clawdd Offa, a Welsh set dance. Winter basketball at the Y

 

Children learn the fundamentals of basketball, building skills in a non-competitive environment. Teams will practice twice a week for an hour and play an eight-game season. Practices are held at local schools beginning Jan. 9. Girls and boys teams for ages 7-8 and ages 9-10. Co-ed teams for ages 11-13. Register at the Mukilteo YMCA or on line at www.ymca-snoco.org.

Read with therapy dogs

 

3:30-4:30 p.m.; recurs each Tueasday. Read with therapy dogs Carmen and Risa for 15 minutes and receive a "pawtograph" souvenir at the Mukilteo Library. For school-age children.

 

Baby & Me Storytime

 

10-11 a.m. at the Mukilteo Library. Recurs each Tuesday. Wiggle and giggle with your baby through silly stories, happy songs, rhymes and activities that inspire a love of reading. Playtime follows. For newborns through 18 months. Caregiver required.

Soroptimist International of Everett

 

Noon to 1 p.m. Attend a Soroptimist International of Everett lunch meeting to join efforts to make the world a better place for women and girls.
