Noon New Year’s Eve Storytime

 

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Read, sing and dance in the New Year. Join the library in a countdown to a noon balloon drop. This storytime event is geared toward children 6 and under. Caregiver required. Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd., Mukilteo. More info: 425-493-8202.

 

New Year’s Eve Pajama Party Bash

 

7-9 p.m. Wear your favorite pajamas and ring in the New Year in style at the Imagine Children’s Museum. Entertainment includes musical comedy by Buck & Elizabeth Variety Show, as well as TatorTot Balloon Sculpting. Come for a scavenger hunt, glow bowling and art activities. Pizza, drinks and Fro-Yo will be available for purchase. At 9 p.m., party guests join in a traditional New Year’s Eve-style countdown as a custom-made, lighted ball is lowered 40 feet, echoing New York City’s famous Times Square ball drop. Tickets are $15, or $10 for Museum members, and are available at the Museum’s front desk and on online at www.imaginecm.org/newyearseve. Tickets available at the door Dec. 31 on a space-available basis for $20, or $15 for Museum members.

Winter basketball at the Y

 

Children learn the fundamentals of basketball, building skills in a non-competitive environment. Teams will practice twice a week for an hour and play an eight-game season. On the warpath in the Pacific

 

7 p.m. Professor Jason McHale discusses an icon of WWII’s Pacific Theater – “Jocko” Clark – as part of the Flying Heritage Collection’s Winter Series. After becoming the first Native Ameri-can to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy during the First World War, Joseph James “Jocko” Clark went on to become one of the pioneers in the creation of the air navy.

Presale tickets are available until 5 p.m. on the day of the event, and cost $7 for youth, $10 for members, volunteers, and veterans, and $15 for general admission. Tickets at the door cost $10 for youth, $15 for members, volunteers and veterans, and $20 for general admission.
