Chamber to elect members to board

The Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce will be electing members to its board of directors on Nov. 15.

The open positions on the Chamber Board of Directors are secretary, membership director, and a director-at-large.

The following are members who have been nominated to join the Chamber Board of Directors for 2013:

Connie Reilly for Secretary

Reilly is the owner of Reilly Insurance and Financial Services, Inc. - Allstate Insurance Companies. She has been in the insurance industry for more than 37 years and has owned this Allstate agency for more than six years.

She and her husband have been married for more than 26 years and live in Mukilteo. Together they have three children who all graduated from Kamiak High School.

“We really enjoy living in Mukilteo and I would like to give back to this wonderful community,” she said. “I would be honored to have the opportunity to assist chamber members, chamber ambassadors, chamber board and the community of Mukilteo in continuing its tremendous economic growth.”

The secretary will be responsible for initiating and answering chamber correspondence, maintaining all books, records, documents, and communications; maintaining an accurate record of proceedings of the chamber, the board of directors, and reports from all committees.

Brian Forster for Director-at-Large

Forster is the founder of Pi Plus LLC and president of Pi Plus Tutors.

He and his wife bought their first home and current residence in the Chenault Beach neighborhood of Mukilteo in 1994 after relocating from Santa Barbara, Calif.

They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in September. They have three children: Gavin, 17, and Simon, 14, at Kamiak High School and Grace, 11, at Harbour Pointe Middle School.

Prior to starting his education services company in 2009, Forster spent 20-plus years in sales and marketing for high-tech and service industries, including stints at Apple, AT&T, Citigroup and Xerox. He’s also worked in several other smaller businesses and startups before realizing a long-held dream and starting his own.

Forster’s undergraduate degree is in Finance from Santa Clara University (1989).

“I would be honored by the opportunity to give back to chamber members, the board and the community of Mukilteo by serving on the board,” he said.

The director of member services will be responsible for recommending applicants to the board for approval.

The director will direct the activities of the membership committee, work with the board and the committee to seek out and solicit membership from persons in the business community, and will also direct the social committee and planning of social activities of the chamber.

Susie Yielding for Membership Director

As a treasury management sales officer for Banner Bank, Yielding has a depth of industry knowledge. With more than two decades bringing financial solutions to her clients, her customers draw on her expertise for their varied and often complex treasury and cash management needs.

Having spent her entire career in the financial arena, Yielding has experienced first-hand the many cycles and challenges businesses face and acts as a high-level consultant to her partners on a day-to-day basis.

Yielding is an active community participant and volunteer who has served on several boards and civic groups in Snohomish and Island Counties. She is involved with small business, commerce, local government, literacy programs, children’s groups and higher education opportunities for those in need.

Yielding is an enthusiastic participant with high energy, dedication and commitment to doing for others.

She is a Mukilteo resident with two children, and is a motorcycle enthusiast who also enjoys travel, architecture and growing her interior design business.

The two directors at-large work on various projects throughout the term as projected by the board.

The candidates were nominated at the breakfast meeting on Oct. 18. Elections will be held at the next breakfast meeting at 7:30 on Nov. 15, at Harbour Pointe Golf Club. You must be a member to vote.

The term of office will be from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. The directors may, at the request of the board of directors and upon approval of the general membership, serve one or more consecutive terns.
