Chuck inspired me to run for office | Letter
Editor, The Beacon:
In 2002, I read a terrific piece by Chuck Sigars (of Chuck's World) in the Mukilteo Beacon where he referred to women reaching middle age as accepting it quickly and moving on to "get master's degrees, start businesses or run for office.”
This thought stayed with me over the years.
As my youngest left home for college this year (and with Chuck's words in my head), I found myself applying for the Mukilteo City Council open seat.
During the interview process, I had the pleasure of being sequestered for several hours in a conference room with the other candidates. Yes, I did say “pleasure”!
What a wonderful group of bright, energetic, accomplished and gracious applicants.
They made me proud to be a Mukiltean and excited to begin my life's new journey on the council representing our incredible citizens.
Also, I wanted to thank the editor for doing such a nice article about my appointment to City Council [“Chris Cook appointed to unexpired council term,” The Beacon, front page, Jan. 15].
Sara, you really captured my thoughts well. Thank you very much.
Mukilteo City Council,
