Soroptimist International meeting

Noon-1 p.m. Soroptimist International of Everett hosts its December business meeting. Tax Workshop

1-4 p.m. The Bothell office of the Washington State Department of Revenue is hosting a free workshop for new and small business owners. Covers Washington excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, tax incentives, sales tax collection, and record-keeping requirements. Sew Thoughtful

10-2 p.m. The Snohomish County Clothing and Textile Advisors will sew walker bags for Hospital Rehab Centers. Meet in the Cougar classroom behind the WSU Extension Office in Everett. An Acoustic Christmas

7 p.m. Mukilteo Foursquare Church is presenting An Acoustic Christmas, a free holiday dessert/concert benefiting Eden House of Thailand, a home for “at risk” young girls in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Celebrate the holidays with Christmas music, featuring acoustic guitarist Josh Snodgrass.  A good will offering will be taken. Christmas Bird Count

An all-day project identifying and counting birds in Mukilteo and a bit in Everett, ending with a dinner get-together for compiling the findings of the many counts in Snohomish County. Providence seeks volunteers

Providence Hospice & Home Care of Snohomish County is seeking volunteer barbers to serve patients in the following areas: Marysville, Arlington, Monroe, and Everett. Help patients retain their self esteem and dignity by providing them with haircuts. 9 a.m. to noon. The girls basketball Holiday Hoops Camp is Dec. 26 and 27. This camp is for girls in grades 3-7. The cost is $55. This fun-filled day emphasizes the basic fundamental skills of basketball, such as shooting, defense, dribbling, rebounding, passing, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Soroptimist International meeting

Noon- 1 p.m. Soroptimist International of Everett hosts its December program meeting. Based on a travel experience to Nepal Nov. 18 to Dec. 1, Dr. Jean Ann French will give a first-hand report on the work of Maiti Nepal regarding prevention and trafficking of young women in Nepal. Maiti Nepal has helped rescue or prevent the trafficking of more than 20,000 girls into the brothels of India. Cost is $12. Everett Golf & Country Club. RSVP to 425-259-8367.
