Download app to donate to local classrooms | School brief

Local teachers will spend an average of $1,000 of their own money this year to buy school supplies for their classrooms.

Teachers nationwide will spend a total of $3 billion of their own money to make sure their students have the learning tools they need.

That’s why the hair salon chain Great Clips teamed up with the non-profit Adopt a Classroom for the 2014-15 school year to offer an easy way to help local classrooms.

Download the free Online Check-In app through Sept. 5, and Great Clips will make a donation to support AdoptAClassroom.org, up to $20,000.

It’s all part of a campaign to get communities throughout the country to adopt local teachers and send them school supplies.

Local families can also win free back-to-school supplies (up to $100 value) delivered right to their door by uploading their back to school supply list on GreatClips.com.
