Downtown streets to become ‘Memory Lane’ with annual Classic Car Show
The Edmonds Classic Car Show returns to the downtown on Sept. 8.
Sponsored by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce, the show is expected to draw between 300-400 beautiful classic vehicles radiating out from the fountain at 5th Avenue & Main Street.
The stores and restaurants will be open and ready to welcome car owners and spectators alike.
The public is invited to this free event, which starts at 10 a.m. Organizers say this is one of the favorite car shows in the region, both with car owners and the public.
In conjunction with the show, there are several other free events happening; a Pancake Breakfast at North Sound Community Church (4th Ave North & Bell Street) from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. & the Edmonds Theatre (Main Street right by the fountain) will be screening cartoons from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The Edmonds Historical Museum (5th Avenue North by the fountain) will be featuring its exhibit “Cruisin’ the Washington Fossil Freeway” & its popular Train Room.
The Kids World at Dayton place will feature the Frog Zone and IGA Grocery Store Coloring contest.
A Pinewood Derby track will be set up for kids to bring their own pinewood derby cars to race.
Pinewood Derby car kits will be available for kids FREE as long as supplies last.
Kids also can bring their favorite Hot Wheels car to race on the track. Plenty of games and activities for all the kids.
Vendor Row will feature auto-related products and some arts and crafts for shopping.
Shane Cobane is back performing his Elvis Presley tribute and Billy Mac of Duelling Piano fame performs on the fountain stage from 2 to 4 p.m.
Throughout the day, an information booth at the fountain will be staffed to answer questions and provide directions to those who need them as well as lost & found services.
Next to the booth they will have custom-designed car show apparel for sale.
While the public enjoys the cars on display, the owners will be awaiting the decision of the judges to see who will win the coveted ‘Best of Show’ jacket as well as numerous other awards.
At 4:30 p.m., the waiting will be over when the award ceremony begins at the fountain.
