Edmonds-Woodway defeats Kamiak | Girls prep basketball

The Edmonds-Woodway girls basketball defeated Kamiak during the first game of 2014. The final score was 56-48.

Edmonds-Woodway led 15-7 after one quarter of action, and extended their lead with a 14-9 second quarter to lead 29-16 at halftime.

Kamiak outscored the Warriors 14-11 in the third quarter and 18-16 in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the first half deficit.

Moni Jackson and Natalie Kasper each scored a game high of 18 points during the win for the Warriors, while teammate Sidney Eck added 14 points. Maddy Nealey scored four points and Missy Peterson scored two.

For Kamiak, Margaret Slack and Salena Taylor each scored 13 points, while Nor Aboulhosn scored 12. Monique Canda and Alexie Morris each scored three points, while Nikki Kendrick and Emily Pillman scored two points a piece.

Edmonds-Woodway, now 6-2 this season, will host Cascade on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 7:15 p.m. Kamiak, 4-5 this season, will host Jackson at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4.
