Fair Housing Equity Assessment public meetings slated

May 07, 2013

The Puget Sound Regional Council, in tandem with the Fair Housing Center of Washington, is gathering information on barriers to equal housing opportunities with a special focus on the major transportation corridors in Snohomish, King, and Pierce Counties.

This Fair Housing Equity Assessment is part of the Growing Transit Communities three-year project to ensure equity along transit lines. They need your help.

They are holding three forums to discuss a broad range of topics to include:

• Does segregation exist in our region?

• Are there negative perceptions about Section 8 Certificate holders, the placement of low income housing and group homes, or the existence of homeless individuals in our neighborhoods?

• Do investments in transportation include areas where low-income and diverse families reside?

• Do policies in your cities, towns, and counties affirmatively further equal and fair housing opportunities?

The three forums are:

Monday, May 13 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Housing Hope

5830 Evergreen Way, Everett

Thursday, May 16 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. King County Library Foster Branch

4060 South 144th, Tukwila

Thursday, May 16 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Salishan Family Investment Center

1724 East 44th, Tacoma

Light refreshments will be served at the forums.
