Fire damages condominium
An early morning fire on Saturday damaged the exterior of one unit of a Harbour Pointe condominium complex.
Firefighters were called at 1:30 a.m. to the First Green Condos in the 5600 block of Harbour Pointe Boulevard in Mukilteo.
The fire was found in exterior vinyl siding near a balcony on the third floor, Assistant Fire Chief Brian McMahan said. It was still smoldering when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the smoldering fire and searched for other signs of fire, which were not found, McMahan said.
Flames had climbed from the third to the fourth floor on the exterior of the complex. Residents had worked to extinguish most of the fire prior to the firefighter’s arrival.
“The fire was in the small exterior wall of one condo,” Fire Marshal Jim Thomas said. “It was on a deck on the third floor. The fire spread up the wall and went to the fourth floor window.”
Thomas said the cause of the fire was undetermined Tuesday and remains under investigation.
“There is no correlation to the apartment fire last Saturday morning on Washington Avenue,” McMahan said.
Mukilteo firefighters were on scene just before 1:40 a.m. They left the scene around 3:15 a.m.
The estimated damage is about $5,500 for the complex and contents.
No residents were displaced from the units and no injuries were reported.
