Free flu shot clinic in Lynnwood on Jan. 18

Jan 07, 2014

It is not too late to get vaccinated to protect yourself and those around you from the flu! Free flu shots are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Lynnwood Convention Center.

Seattle Visiting Nurse Association (SVNA), with support from the Verdant Health Commission, will offer uninsured and underinsured community members with the opportunity to receive a no-cost seasonal influenza (and Tdap when requested) immunization.

Individuals with insurance coverage are welcome as well, and in those instances, SVNA will bill insurance plans directly with no out-of-pocket cost to the recipient.

With the first death from the flu in Snohomish County reported this week and the illness continuing to spread, it is important for everyone to be protected. So far in 2013-14, the most common virus is H1N1, otherwise known as swine flu, and swine flu is more likely to hit young adults and children than people older than 65, according to the Snohomish Health District.

The good news is the H1N1 virus is part of the current vaccine. So unlike the swine flu epidemic in 2009, people can protect themselves this year.

There are additional flu shot clinics taking place in Everett on Jan. 10 and 11. Learn more about these opportunities at www.snohd.org.
