Futures begin in our schools | Letter

Feb 05, 2014

Editor, The Beacon:

As we begin 2014, I'm happy to report that the future of Snohomish County is bright, and I agree with the supporters of the Mukilteo School District's upcoming bond and levy election that “futures begin in our schools.”

Giving students a great start in safe, warm and dry facilities designed to support their learning will give them a leg up in preparing for a future in our expanding high tech economy.

We're creating highly skilled, living wage jobs here in Snohomish County that will require well prepared workers. Every student in Snohomish County should have the opportunity to compete for these jobs and the only way to ensure that is to provide them with the best education we can.

We're expanding the education infrastructure in our county to support students in preparing for this future, and it all starts in our elementary and secondary schools.

Please join the effort to build and maintain the economic vitality of our region by agreeing with the supporters of Mukilteo schools on Feb. 11. Vote “Yes” on the bond and levy.

John Lovick,

Snohomish County Executive,

Mill Creek
