Granite Transformations of Mukilteo has been named the Better Business Bureau Western Washington business of the year for 2013.

The BBB presented the Business of the Year Torch Award during a ceremony on April 3 at the business located on the Mukilteo Speedway.

“We feel both honored and grateful,” said Deb Varner, franchise owner. “It’s really because of our employees that we got the award. We’re blessed to have a perfect team to work with us and for us.

“They’re terrific people who care a lot about our customers.”

Bob and Deb Varner opened their Granite Transformations franchise nine years ago at 11524 Mukilteo Speedway Ste. 101. The business sells and installs engineered granite countertops for kitchen and bath remodels. The Varners own the B.C. franchise as well.

Employee Irecia Kiske nominated Granite Transformations without telling the owners because of all the happy calls the business receives after an installation.

She said many of their customers compliment their quality of work and comment on how beautiful their kitchen is.

“I have never worked for any company that received so much positive feedback,” Kiske said.

“I send a customer satisfaction survey to every installed customer. In the three years that I have worked for Granite Transformations, only one or two of hundreds of surveys have not been positive, and most are overflowing with happiness.”

The Business of the Year Torch Award recognizes outstanding businesses and business individuals. The theme for the award is “A company you can trust.”

After the award ceremony, the owners of Granite Transformations thanked their employees with lunch at Azteca.
