Haugen's five goals leads Mukilteo past Lakeside in lacrosse
Keenan Haugen scored a season-high five goals to lead Mukilteo into a third-place Northeast Conference tie with Bellevue, Wednesday with an 13 - 8 boys high school lacrosse defeat of Lakeside at Mariner High School in Everett.
The five goals gave the Kamiak High School junior 17 on the season and lifted Mukilteo's record to 6-2-0 on the season, four wins beyond their 2011 2-12-0 record.
Lakeside took an early 3 - 1 lead in the first, but Mukilteo came back with five goals is the second for a narrow 6- 5 half-time lead. In the third, Mukilteo added four more goals to increase the margin to 10 - 6 and then outscored the Lions 3 - 2 lock-in the win.
Alex Okemah led the Mukilteo defense with 12 ground balls. It was the fifth game where the Kamiak senior grabbed 10 or more ground balls.
Lakeside's Keaton Santi had three goals and Gabe Pascualy and Connor Haney each had two goals.
Mukilteo (6-2-0) next faces next faces Issaquah (11-0-0), Friday, April 20 in a 7:30 p.m. start at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo. Lakeside (3-5-0) next faces Mercer Island (9-4-0), Saturday, April 21 in an 8 p.m. start at Mercer Island High School.
