How about some vision for waterfront?
I was interested to read the Everett Herald article (Monday March 25) describing what the City of Everett and the Port of Everett's vision for the Everett waterfront has become.
It describes what people with leadership and vision are capable of when it comes to waterfront development.
Their plans call for: "Waterfront hotels, retail shops and restaurants; apartments & condominiums; employment center for light manufacturing & business; two parks; etc." NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES, other than some bus stops.
I am pleased that Snohomish County Councilman Brian Sullivan and Mukilteo Councilmen Stoltz and Schmalz have had the vision to pursue the combination Park & Ride/Commuter parking lot on the west side of Paine Field.
Done correctly, this could remove a lot of congestion in the vicinity of the ferry dock and Lighthouse Park, as well as on the Speedway.
It's too bad the mayor and a majority of our City Council appear to only have what I consider a "go with the flow" approach to the Mukilteo waterfront.
I'm sure the Whidbey Island residents and commuters appreciate your efforts.
