It’s almost time to register for school

School is just around the corner: Classes in the Mukilteo School District are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Returning students are already registered for school, but students who have moved to the area during the summer or moved into the attendance area of another school should get registered at their new school before school starts.

If you are uncertain which school your child should attend, check the attendance boundaries on the school district’s wesite at www.mukilteo.wednet.edu or call the school district at 425-356-1274.

Registration for fall classes will be as follows:

Elementary school

Elementary students are always anxious to see who their teacher will be for the coming year. All of the schools will have the classroom assignment lists posted at the school on or before the Labor Day weekend.

New students entering kindergarten through 5th grade can register at the school they will be attending in their neighborhood.

To register their child for school, parents or guardians should bring verification of their child’s birth date, proof of residence (such as a utility bill or lease agreement), the names and telephone numbers of emergency contacts and an up-to-date immunization record.

The state’s current immunization requirements can be found through a link at www.mukilteo.wednet.edu.

All Mukilteo elementary schools will be open for registration beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a break for lunch.

Middle school

Students already enrolled in the Mukilteo School District should have registered for their middle school classes last spring. Students who are new to the school district can register at the middle school he or she will attend.

The school offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a break at lunchtime, beginning on Monday, Aug.19.

To register their child for middle school, parents or guardians should bring proof of residence (such as a utility bill or lease agreement), the names and telephone numbers of emergency contacts, a copy of the student’s most recent report card and an up-to-date immunization record.

The state’s current immunization requirements can be found at www.mukilteo.wednet.edu.

New students entering 7th and 8th grade also may be asked to take a placement test in math and reading.

Each middle school has set aside time when students can accomplish tasks such as get their class schedule, have pictures taken, get ASB cards, or get their locker assignment. These back-to-school events are scheduled are as follows:

Explorer Middle School

A back-to-school event for students will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21. There will be an orientation for 6th grade students from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Harbour Pointe Middle School

A back-to-school event for all students will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22. New students can register and returning students can pick up supply lists, purchase PE clothes, and do other tasks. Harbour Pointe is at 5000 Harbour Pointe Blvd. in Mukilteo. Olympic View Middle School

A back-to-school event will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22. An orientation for 6th grade students, and another check-in opportunity for students in other grades, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Voyager Middle School

On Tuesday, Aug. 27, a back-to-school event will be held for 6th grade students from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and for 7th and 8th grade students from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Testing for students new to the Mukilteo School District will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, Monday, Aug. 26 and Thursday, Aug. 29. A preview day for 6th grade students will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Voyager is at 11711 4th Ave. W. in Everett. High school

Students already enrolled in the Mukilteo School District should have registered for their high school classes last spring. Students who are new to the school district can register at the high school he or she will attend.

All high school offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a break at lunchtime, beginning on Thursday, Aug. 15.

When registering a student who is new to Mukilteo schools, the parents or guardians of new incoming 9th graders should bring their child’s final progress report at his or her previous school.

The parents of new incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors should bring a transcript from their child’s previous high school.

Parents also should bring proof of residence (such as a utility bill or lease agreement), the names and telephone numbers of emergency contacts and an up-to-date immunization record. The state’s current immunization requirements can be found at www.mukilteo.wednet.edu.

The high schools offer students the opportunity get locker assignments, buy spirit gear, purchase ASB cards, and see their friends. The back-to-school events for high school will be as follows:

ACES High School

Pre-registration to the alternative high school was done last spring. Registration opportunities also will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22 and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23. Students wishing to apply to ACES can do so through their counselor at either Mariner or Kamiak. ACES is at 9700 Holly Dr. in Everett. For more information, call the school at 425-366-3900.

Kamiak High School

Prep day for incoming seniors will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, for juniors from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, and for sophomores from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. also on Aug. 21. An orientation and registration meeting for all incoming freshmen students will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22. A Parent Information Night is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Kamiak is at 10801 Harbour Pointe Blvd. in Mukilteo. Mariner High School

Student check-in for seniors is on Tuesday, Aug. 27, for juniors and sophomores on Wednesday, Aug. 28, and for freshmen on Thursday, Aug. 29. The event for freshmen also will include an orientation.
