Jackson defeats Kamiak 5-2 | Boys prep tennis

The Jackson boys tennis team retained their top spot in the Wesco 4A south league on Wednesday, Sept. 18, beating the league’s No. 2 team Kamiak 5-2.

In the single competition, Jimmy Hua lost to Ben Mietzner 7-6 (7-3) 6-2, while teammate Garrett Peterson lost to Peter Cung 6-7 (5-7) 6-3, 6-4. Joseph Lee lost to Grant Follis 6-1, 6-4 and Janson Garside lost to Luke George 6-0, 6-4.

In the doubles matches, Kamiak’s Dominic Lee and Lan Kim won their match 3-6, 7-5, 6-4, while teammates Brian Moon and Daniel Chung lost 6-0,6-3. The Knights second win of the night went to Oliver Collins and Ben Lee who beat Patrick Follis and Peter Liao 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Kamiak is 2-1 in league play and 2-2 overall this season. The team will take on Cascade at Cascade High School on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. and will host Mariner on Monday, Sept. 23.
