Joe Hannan a collaborative, accessible leader | Letter
Editor, The Beacon:
When I first came to work at the Mukilteo YMCA five years ago, I knew few people in the community. Shortly after joining the Mukilteo Kiwanis Club, I met Joe Hannan.
Joe was warm and friendly, and mentored me as I served in Kiwanis leadership positions. I’ve found Joe to be a true service-minded civic professional, and I’m seen him volunteer, raise money, and advocate for kids, families and schools throughout the Mukilteo community.
No task is too big or small, from packing dictionaries to give to third grade classrooms to cooking hotdogs to raise money for scholarships. Joe models leadership and does whatever it takes to get the job done.
For me, Joe represents a great example of how government leaders can work effectively within the community. If I need anything, have a question, or seek counsel, I can count on Joe.
His transparent, collaborative attitude has helped hundreds throughout our community.
As his time as city administrator has come to a close, I think it’s important to recognize his positive impact on the nonprofit, business and civic agencies throughout Mukilteo [“New mayor planning to restructure management,” The Beacon, front page, Jan. 8].
