Kamiak beats Lake Stevens | Boys prep basketball
The Kamiak boys basketball team beat Lake Stevens on Tuesday, Jan. 7 in an away game. The final score was 43-37.
The teams were tied 8-8 at the end of the first quarter, but Kamiak took the lead in the second, adding 12 points to the Vikings eight, giving the Knights a 20-16 lead at halftime.
The Knights outscored the Vikings 16-9 in the third quarter, and though Lake Stevens scored 12 to Kamiak's seven in the final minutes, it wasn't enough to beat the Knights.
Tyler Nielsen scored a team high of 19 points in the win for Kamiak, with Chance Lord adding five, as did Drew Blacksmith. Simran Mand and Nate Shubert both scored four points, while Brock Merkley added three, Gavin Patrick scored two and Coleman Grayson added one point.
The Knights, now 3-3 in league and 4-6 overall, will host Snohomish on THursday, Jan. 9 at 7:15 p.m.
