Kamiak beats Mariner 48-13 in Mukilteo showdown | Prep football
In a showdown between two Mukilteo schools, Kamiak beat Mariner 48-13 on Friday, Oct. 18.
The Knights earned their first points of the night with 4:02 left to play in the first quarter when Tyler Webley made a 22-yard touchdown run, followed by a good Nicholas Menghini kick to give Kamiak a 7-0 lead.
The first quarter ended with Mariner driving toward the goal line and the Marauders started the second quarter on the 1-yard line. Mariner's Nick Smith punched it in with 11:50 on the clock, but the kick went wide and Kamiak led 7-6.
Kamiak went on a scoring run, when Joseph Binda scored after a 40-yard kick off return by the Knights. The kick bounced off the uprights, and Kamiak led 13-6 with 10:32 left to play in the first half.
Kamiak recovered an onside kick after the touchdown, giving the Knights the ball on the 18-yard line, which led to another Binda touchdown, this time with 8:30 left in the first half.
Henderson Belk would score his first of two touchdowns of the night when Tyler Becker threw him a 21-yard pass with 6:38 left in the second. Belk's second touchdown came with 1:15 left in the half when Becker threw him a 5-yard touchdown pass.
The Knights led 34-6 at halftime.
After the break, Kamiak made quick work in the third quarter, when Binda scored the first touchdown of the second half after an 88-yard run.
Binda scored his fourth and final points of the evening with one minute reaming in the third quarter, lifting the Knights to a 48-6 lead.
Mariner added it's second touchdown when Joshua WIlliamson scored off a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, the last points scored during the game.
Kamiak had 343 rushing yards during the game, while Mariner amassed 110. Neither team threw for more than 100 yard – Kamiak threw for 56 and Mariner for 93.
Binda finished with 209 total yards, averaging 11 yards, while Williamson had 82 for Mariner.
Kamiak, now 3-1 and 5-2, will play Cascade at Everett Memorial Stadium on Friday, Oct. 25 in a 5 p.m. game, while Mariner, 0-4 and 0-7, will host Edmonds-Woodway at 7 p.m. at Goddard.
