Coach: Cory West

Number of athletes: 19, including six returning seniors

Last season: The Knights finished with a 10-12 record, playing in the Wesco district tournament.

Strengths: “Length,” said head coach Cory West. “We have some tall guys, six guys who are over 6 feet, 3 inches.”

West said one of the team’s goals, off the court, is to be all-academic champions, meaning the team has an average GPA of 3.8 or higher. He’d also like them to peak and gel together come January, positioning the Knights for a strong run in the post season.

Focus: “Defense, defense, defense,” said West. “That will hopefully win us some games.”

Captains: Seniors Jonathan Lee and Drew Blacksmith

“We have a lot of energy,” said Blacksmith of the team’s early practices. “It’s a lot of fun.”

Both said they’d like to make the state tournament this year, and focus on getting to 15-5 and getting ready for the playoffs.

Game to watch: Jackson

“They are pretty stacked up this year,” said Lee. “I feel like we have a good chance against them.”

The Knights will play Jackson at home on Jan. 4.
