Kamiak boys, girls third at Wesco championships | Prep cross country
The Kamiak boys and girls cross country teams finished in third place at the 4A Wesco championships race at South Whidbey High School on Saturday, Oct. 26.
The girls team earned 86 points, while the boys had 74.
The Mariner boys team finished in 11th place with a total of 321 points.
In the boys race, Jerry Behrens was 10th overall in 16:35, followed by Seth Villanueva in 11th in 16:40 and Ben Halladay in 12th in 16:41. Cullen McEachern was 16th in 17:00, while Bo Gould finished in 25th place in 17:14. Roger Klaaskate was 36th in 17:28, Skyler Bradford was 44th and Hobb Kimmerling was 45th.
For Mariner, Spencer Anderson finished in 63rd place in 18:33, while Tim Angelos was 67th overall in 18:36. John Nguyen was 76th, Digeo Casillas was 78th and Juwan Smith was 86th. Quan Tran finished in 89th place and Oscar Flores-Montes was 92nd.
In the girls race for Kamiak, Nicole Nijgen was 10th in 19:48, while Molly McEachern was 11th in 19:50. Heather Pearson was 18th in 20:20, Brittney Friend was 21st in 20:29, Tiana Roe was 26th in 20:20 and Tiffany Roe was 32nd in 21:09. Chloe Morrison finished the race in 35th place in 21:18.
For Mariner, Abbie Steinhauer finished in eighth place in 19:39, while teammate Chanel Ridiros was 53rd overall in 22:23. Honglam Van was 66th overall, Isabelle ills was 74th, Lorena Gutierrez-Perez was 77th in 25:13, and Shayla Forbes was 79th.
The top eight teams and the top 40 individuals advance to the District I/II meet which will be held Saturday, Nov. 2 at Lincoln Park in Seattle. The boys race will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the girls race at 1:45 p.m.
The top five boys and girls team and the top 25 individuals will qualify for the state meet on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Pasco, Wash.
