Kamiak claims district crown, state academic title | Boys golf

Kamiak’s Devin Kim took first place with a 4-under-par 68 to help lead Kamiak to the Wesco 4A boys golf championship Monday, May 8, at the Mill Creek Country Club.

The Knights scored 375 to finish ahead of Glacier Peak, which tallied 409.

Kamiak’s Alvin Kwak shot a 70 and was followed by Alex Kim (75), Michael Baker (78) and Tanner Mohr (84).

The district tournament is scheduled for May 16-17 at Legion Memorial Golf Course in Everett.

The Kamiak boys golf team also was named the 4A Academic State Champion for the 2017 spring season, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, Dairy Farmers of Washington, and Les Schwab Tires announced on Friday, May 5.

The five members of the Knights, under coach Vic Alinen, have a combined 3.703 grade point average, the highest among all teams in their enrollment classification.
