Kamiak grad earns full-ride to Navy ROTC

A 2012 Kamiak High School graduate has been commissioned into the U.S. Navy as an Ensign.

On Dec. 17, 2016, Benjamin Jerome Stewart graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Architectural Engineering and a minor in Leadership Studies from The University of Colorado Boulder.

Stewart was also awarded a full-ride scholarship to the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps program. He is set to be a Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer and will be stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii aboard the USS Hopper.

Stewart joins his older brother, Lt. Joshua Stewart, as an officer in the Navy. Joshua, a 2007 graduate of Kamiak High School, is currently stationed in Monterrey, California, where he is attending Naval Postgraduate School.

Stewart’s younger brother, Sam Stewart, gave him his first salute Dec. 17. Sam is a junior at the University of Washington in the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps program and is set to be an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.
