Kamiak, Mariner boys beat Everett schools | Prep cross country
During the annual cross country race pitting the Mukilteo schools Kamiak and Mariner and the Everett schools Jackson and Cascade, the Mukilteo boys teams won, while the girls teams were second during the Oct. 17 meet at McCollum Park.
In the boys race, the Mukilteo schools won with 37 points, while the Everett schools earned 23 points. In the girls race, the Everett schools earned 37 points, while the Mukilteo schools earned 24.
Kamiak’s Jerry Behrens was third overall with a time of 16:12, while Ben Halladay was fourth in 16:28. Cullen McEachern finished in sixth place for the Knights with a time of 16:33, followed by Bo Gould in ninth place in 16:52. Roger Klaaskate was 11th overall in 16:56.
For Mariner, Jonathan Jacobs finished in 44th place with a time of 19 minutes, followed by Alvin Nguyen in 47th place in 19:08. Moises Flores finished in 48th place in 19:08, Quan Tran was 49th in 19:10 and Jose Irizarry was 50th in 19:11.
In the girls race, for Kamiak, Nicole Vijean was fourth overall in 19:43, while Molly McEachern was fifth in 19:52. Heather Pearson finished in sixth place with a time of 20:04, Brittney Friend was seventh in 20:08 and Tiana Roe was eighth in 20:17.
For Mariner, Abbie Steinhauer was second overall in 18:52, while Aria Angeles was eighth in 20:32. Chanel Ridiros was ninth in 20:33, Honglam Van was 19th in 20:36 and Isabelle Mills was 27th in 23:28.
Both Kamiak and Mariner will take part in the Wesco Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26 at South Whidbey High School.
