Kamiak wins 4A district title, prepare for state meet | Girls prep swimming
The Kamiak girls swimming team won the 4A Wesco district title on Saturday, Nov. 9.
The Knights had 582 points during the meet in their home pool, followed by Jackson in second place with 465 points.
Individually, Lindzey Maddux was third in the diving competition with 279.35 points, while Laura Johnson won the 100 butterfly race in 59.08. Angeline Dovinh finished the 100 freestyle race in second place with a time of 54.87 seconds.
Lyndsey Willis was third overall in the 500 freestyle race in 5:26.93, while Johnson was second in the 100 backstroke event in 59.60. Ingrid Straume was third in the 100 breaststroke race in 1:09.31.
The Kamiak 200 freestyle relay team finished in first place with a time of 1:42.69, while the 400 freestyle relay team also won the district title in a time of 3:41.27.
Mariner's Brianna Lucien finished the 200 freestyle race in second place with a time of 1:58.31. She won the 500 freestyle even in 5:06.07.
The 4A state swimming meet will begin on Friday, Nov. 15 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. The prelims will be held on Friday starting at 9:45 a.m. Qualifying swimmers will advance to the 4A finals on Saturday, Nov. 16 which begins at 10 a.m.
