Karin Thorsen graduates from WSU
Karin Thorsen, of Mukilteo, graduated from Washington State University on May 4 with a bachelor’s degree in food science with a minor in global studies.
Thorsen also spent a year in Sweden and attended Uppsala University and Council on International Educational Exchange. She became fluent in the Swedish language, traveled in Europe and participated in Young Life in Bulgaria and Rockbridge, Va.
Thorsen received two Outstanding Student awards from the Institute of Food Technologist. She has been a member of the Food Product Development Team at WSU.
She also won Washington Association for Food Protection, College Success and WSU Creamery scholarships.
She worked at the WSU Creamery, making the famous “Cougar Gold Cheese,” while taking classes at the WSU College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Sciences and School of Food Science, as well as classes at the University of Washington.
Thorsen is a 2008 graduate of Kamiak High School.
