Been to a Silvertips game recently? If your kids have caught hockey fever and are interested in trying the sport, the Everett Youth Hockey Booster Club is offering a try hockey for free event on Saturday, May 10.

The event, which will be held at the Comcast Community Ice Rink at 2000 Hewitt Ave. in Everett, is free and open to kids of all ages.

Gary Gusinsky, the director of the Everett Youth Hockey Booster Club, said they offer the event for free, and provide gear for kids so people can try the sport without the expense of buying equipment.

"A lot of times families go to the Silvertips games and want to try it out, but hear about the expense and it can scare them out of it," said Gusinsky. "We've bought loads of gear over the years and so people can come out and try it without the expensive of buying the gear."

The club hosts a try hockey for free event once a once, with the next to be held May 10 from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.

"The sat one we did the last weekend in April had about 30 kids," said Gusinsky. He said one of their biggest included up to 69 kids.

Gusinsky said its very important for anyone interested in coming to the event to show up at least an hour before and to RSVP online so they can get an idea of how many to expect. He said they have plenty of gear, but want to make sure each child gets fitted properly, especially helmets.
