Kudos to Kamiak kids for pre-“Messiah” show | Letter

Dec 11, 2013

Editor, The Beacon:

We are so fortunate to live in a community that has exceptional schools with vibrant and thriving music programs.

We have hundreds of parents who voluntarily work hours upon hours to raise money for these programs, and we have a community of large and small businesses that financially and materially donate to these programs.

Additionally, we have fantastic music directors who lead these music programs.

There is no doubt that the efforts of these parents, businesses, directors and many, many more have contributed to the musical inspiration, development and success of our youth, ultimately drawing people to our fantastic school district!

This letter, however, is not about them. This letter is to acknowledge the incredibly talented youth themselves.

This last week, I asked if the Kamiak choir and orchestra could provide the music for a holiday event at my office. This would be a volunteer performance and opportunity to promote the upcoming Holiday Classics Concert.

My request was met with hearty and grateful “absolutely’s.” Within just one week, Kamiak students (as well as alumni) put together two string quartets and two barbershop performances that entertained all who attended my office event, leaving most asking “Who are these incredible kids?”

The Kamiak students not only showed up on time and ready to perform, they brought along an amazing amount of enthusiasm and gratitude for the community that they recognized supports them.

While I was thanking them, they were thanking me for the opportunity to give back!

All of the folks in our office want to give a GIGANTIC shout out to these kids who showed up and represented their school professionally and proudly.

You were absolutely amazing!
