Letter: Kudos, Mr. Ingram, on call for inter-faith dialogue
I want to thank you and Mr. Paul Ingram, from the bottom of my heart, for publishing an article like “Surrender to dialogue so ‘that you may know each other,” (Feb. 15).
I am a Muslim who grew up not knowing my religion because I grew up in a convent. Most Muslim children were being indoctrinated in Christianity as a result of the colonial destruction of our culture, educational systems and religious identity.
I studied Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism. It was only after 9/11 that I rediscovered my religion and fell in love with its simplicity of message and unifying message of brotherhood.
I'm so glad that you highlighted the “spirit” of Islam instead of taking selective sentencing and distorting the message.
I thank you for doing that and hope to see more articles that help build bridges of understanding among all faiths.
