Letters for the week of Dec. 19
Foundation fundraiser a success
Editor, The Beacon:
Thank you, Mukilteo!
The Mukilteo Schools Foundation would like to thank our generous community once again for making the annual Foundation Breakfast a success.
Each year the Foundation holds an area fundraiser to support the needs of Mukilteo School District students and teachers through classroom enhancement grants as well as special district-wide initiatives.
For the past several years a large portion of the donated funds were used to purchase classroom literature in age appropriate titles on subjects pertaining to writing, science, social studies, fiction and non-fiction. College scholarships are also granted to selected Mukilteo district graduating seniors.
The Mukilteo Schools Foundation is one of the few foundations of its kind that operate strictly on a volunteer basis with no paid staff.
The annual breakfast is held in the Kamiak Commons to hold down costs, which allows the foundation to disperse the donations directly back to our schools and students.
The Board of Directors would like to extend a thank you to each and every participant for their support.
In addition, we would like to specifically thank our Platinum, Gold, and Silver event sponsors who each donated $1,000 or more: Boeing, Klein Honda, Paragon Manufacturing Corp, Frontier Communications, Sodexo, Union Bank, James Russell PLLC, Sidney and Judy Schwab and Tania Halladay.
An additional shout out goes to our wonderful emcee Bob Drewel and our delightful speaker Kent Hartman, author of The Wrecking Crew. Additional Bronze and individual sponsors are listed on our website: mukilteoschoolsfoundation.org.
Through the charitable efforts of this wonderful community, the foundation will be able to continue its tradition of purchasing rich literature to enhance the classrooms and libraries of the Mukilteo School District.
