Letters for week of Aug. 1
Reader unhappy with Beacon
I am writing in response to a letter you chose to print entitled, “Reading is important, Phyllis Schlafly is not,” [The Beacon, Letters, page 4, July 25].
I feel it is in very poor taste to lambast a fellow American. A person should simply say, “I believe in giving condoms to children,” rather than criticize people who do not think it is wise to distribute condoms to children.
In other words, one should state what they believe rather than publicly denounce people who do not agree.
This is America – and we each have the constitutional right to form own opinions without suffering published slander.
Name calling, too, is not a practice that is acceptable in published letters. I hope you will, in the future, exhibit better taste.
Vote Millie Judge
I encourage you to vote for Millie Judge for Snohomish County Superior Court. Judge Judge would serve our community well.
Millie serves as the county hearing examiner, where she has unique experience hearing land uses cases, mostly. The appellants are often neighbors without legal expertise, and Millie carefully guides them through the hearings process and makes sure they have a fair hearing.
Millie also serves on the Fire District 1 commission. I've worked with her on the committee discussing a Regional Fire Authority. Millie is a great leader, a calm voice of reason and serves all of south Snohomish County through her guidance and intelligence.
Millie Judge would serve our county and city well on the Snohomish County Superior Court, and I encourage you to vote Millie Judge.
