Library offers summer activities | School brief

Looking for ways to keep your kids active during summer vacation?

Studies show that children who read four to six books over the summer avoid the “summer slump” and maintain their reading skills, while children who read 10 to 20 books will improve their reading skills.

The Sno-Isle Regional Library System is offering free, fun programs to keep kids active and interested in reading and learning. For more information, go to www.sno-isle.org/explore-summer.

The Mukilteo Library also is offering a Book Buddies program that pairs struggling second- and third-grade readers with trained teen volunteers.

The sessions are held every Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 14. Call 425-493-8202 for more information.
