Lois Elvina Blackburn: 1923 – 2013
Lois Elvina Blackburn of Fairview, Ore. entered into eternal rest on April 17, 2013 at the age of 89. She was born on Dec. 2, 1923 in Mukilteo to Robert and Anna (Goralski) Smollett.
Lois grew up in Mukilteo, attended Rosehill grade school and graduated from Everett High School in 1942. She worked for Boeing in Seattle for a short time, and eventually moved to Portland where she met James, and they married and raised their family.
She worked for Meier and Frank, U.S. Bank, and Multnomah County at various times throughout her life, but most loved being a homemaker and spending time with her family.
She was also a member of the Catholic Church. Her interests included reading, music, fashion and decorating. She loved the beach and returned to her beloved hometown by the bay as often as possible to visit dear family and friends who remained there.
There was a special place in her heart for Mukilteo and her many memories of good times spent there.
Lois is survived by her husband James; sons David of Monterey, Calif., Greg of Portland and Eugene of Sandy, Ore. and daughter Lexy Tappert of Troutdale, Ore.; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
There will be a funeral Mass at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church at 2310 N.E. 148th Ave. in Portland, Ore. on Saturday, May 4, at 10 am. The burial will be at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland.
