Lynnwood beats Mariner 4-3 | Boys prep tennis

The Mariner boys tennis team lost a hard fought series to Lynnwood on Wednesday, Sept. 18. The final score was 4-3 for the Royals.

In the singles competition, Mariner’s Alex Hoang beat Ryan Tsuji 6-4, 6-2, while teammate Kal Johal beat Brandon Pel 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Ferdinan Feliciano earned the last Marauder win of the afternoon, beating Mathew Huang 6-4, 7-6, (7-5). Lynnwood’s David Jorgenson beat David Chang 6-3, 6-3 in the last singles game of the day.

Lynnwood swept the doubles matches, with Chuong Pham and Thu Yein beating Joesph Castro and Jeffery Choe 6-1, 6-2. Htet Thu and Alex Mullen beat Sebastien Khoutxaysana and Jignesh Trivedi 6-2, 6-2. Oscar Ponce and Jesse Johal lost to Amer and Samer Kootainay 7-6 (7-5) 7-5.

Mariner is now 0-2 in league this season and 1-2 overall. The team will host Edmonds-Woodway on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. and will take on Kamiak at Kamiak on Monday, Sept. 23 at 3:30 p.m.
