Marine a positive choice for Mukilteo | Letter
Editor, The Beacon:
Joe Marine is a vote for leadership and a positive choice for the future. Under Marine’s leadership, our city has seen overall improvement and a rise to AAA financial rating while countless American cities found themselves on fiscal life support.
With Marine at the helm, we watched Lighthouse Park and Rosehill Community Center reconstructed into beautiful, user friendly centers. He ushered in a City Hall that we can all be proud of and collaborated to have the Tank Farm property transferred.
In response to a majority of Mukilteo residents, Marine has consistently fought to keep commercial flights from the airport and, under his watch, Mukilteo rose to a top 10 in Money Magazine’s Best Places to Live.
There are a few complaints against Marine, but all leaders have pros and cons and Gregerson will too, if elected. With that in mind, carefully weigh the complaints against the accomplishments and you will find that Marine has been a benefit to our beautiful city.
A regular complaint about Joe Marine is the city’s use of chip seal. However annoying the situation may be, it isn’t sufficient for a change in leadership. Furthermore, he didn’t make the decision alone, as Jennifer Gregerson was on the council when a chip seal program was decided.
New taxes will be needed to implement a superior road maintenance plan, and Gregerson has pledged to not raise taxes. This leaves the situation unchanged regardless of who is elected.
Marine has eight years of on-the-job, city planning experience, he has been a visionary, and has leadership skills that enable him to reach out to other cities and leaders for the benefit of Mukilteo.
Simply put, Joe Marine has made our town a better place. I strongly urge you to cast your vote for Joe Marine.
