Mariner falls 5-2 to Mount Vernon | Boys prep tennis

The Mariner tennis team lost a non-league match to Mount Vernon on Monday, Sept. 30. The final score was 5-2 for the Bulldogs.

In singles matches, Casey Coodwin of Mount Vernon beat Ferdinan Feliciano 6-0, 6-0, while Joseph Castro lost 6-0, 6-0 to Kyle Frederick. Jignesh Trivedi lost to Kyler Schubkegel 6-2, 7-6 (8-6).

In doubles matches, Mariner’s Alex Hoang and Kal Johal beat Marcus Samara and Luke Visser 6-1, 6-1, while teammates Jeffrey Choe and Sebastien Khoutyaysana beat James Matson and Luke Johnston 6-3, 6-3.

Mount Vernon’s Bo Vowiler and Ian Mazzarella beat Jesse Johal and Oscar Ponce 6-2, 6-2.

Mariner is 1-6 this season in league play and 2-6 overall. The Marauders will play at Monroe on Wednesday, Oct. 2 and will take on Lake Stevens on Thursday, Oct. 3.
