Mariner girls golf | Spring sports previews
Coach: Chris Carr
Number of athletes: 3
Last season: The Marauders finished 0-7 last spring.
Strengths: “It's going great. They are working hard and coming out and getting better,” said first year head coach Chris Carr. “We have a freshman who is coming in who is a great golfer, she's going to compete with the 1s and 2s and we have a senior, Kara, this is her third year. She just hit a personal best during a practice round. She's excited and ready to go and looking for a great senior season.”
Focus: “Just getting them used to playing and rounds of golf we've worked on some putting drills and spend some time at the Super Range,” said the coach.
Leaders: Raelee Meige, a junior, Marli Koba, a freshman and Karalyn Ostler, a senior.
The team said they are excited to get playing again, and that their goal this season is to improve off of last year.
Matches to watch: “Just play and get to know the golfing community and get my roots in and learn the ins and outs so we can keep taking it to the next level and build a program for the future,” said the coach.
The team starts the season on Wednesday, March 19 at the Lynnwood Golf Course against Lynnwood, Cascade, Edmonds-Woodway, Monroe and Snohomish.
