Mayor to hold town hall on city budget | City brief
Mayor Jennifer Gregerson will hold a town hall meeting about 2017 city budget priorities.
The event will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Mukilteo City Hall.
“I look forward to public feedback on our budget,” Gregerson said. “The town hall will be a great opportunity to hear from our community about our priorities for the coming year.”
The mayor presented next year’s preliminary budget to the Mukilteo City Council on Oct. 3. It is her third balanced budget.
Gregerson started the process early this year: The preliminary budget was finished and available for review on Sept. 30. That’s one month earlier than last year.
Wednesday’s meeting is an opportunity to give feedback on city revenues, expenses and budget priorities.
New this year, the council has been working with the administration to prepare for the preliminary budget.
The council shared its priorities for the budget on June 27, reviewed a list of new expenses on Aug. 1, looked at revenue options on Aug. 8, reviewed maintenance and replacement plans Sept. 6 and previewed the preliminary budget on Sept. 19.
“Every day, I am reminded that serving as mayor is the best job I’ve ever had,” Gregerson said. “I am so honored to have the opportunity to lead our community. It is a privilege to serve you.”
The event will be held in the Council Chambers, at 11930 Cyrus Way in Mukilteo.
If you can’t make the town hall, that’s OK. Follow-up meetings are scheduled for Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Oct. 24 and Nov. 7 at City Hall to go over the preliminary budget.
