The Meariner football team couldn't slow the Monroe Bearcats on Friday, Sept. 20, as Monroe cruised to a 25-18 win over the Marauders.

Monroe scored in the first quarter, off a 4-yard Gabe Moore run. The Bearcats led 7-0 going into the second quarter.

Mariner struck early in the second, as Joshua Williamson scored the first Marauder points of the night off a 1-yard run into the end zone. But Moore would strike again in the second, this time scoring off a 9-yard, followed by a Max Blais touchdown after a 63-yard run. The Bearcats led 19-6 at the end of the first half.

After the break, Williamson was able to punch through to the end zone off an 11-yard run, scoring six points for Mariner in the third quarter. Monroe's Robbie Schab caught a 7-yard end zone pass from quarterback Andrew Zimmerman, before the fourth quarter began.

Mariner tried to even things up with a Dyonte Law 10-yard touchdown run, but it was the last points of the night for either team.

Mariner will take on Cascade at Goddard Field on Friday, Sept. 27 in a 7 p.m game.
