Mukilteo athlete competes in Junior Olympics | Sports brief

Mukilteo student Kimberly Beard, 6, is following in her family’s footsteps and becoming a track athlete at an early age.

Beard recently competed in the Junior Olympics in Kent in the 8 and under class, where she placed first in the 2 kilogram shot put, with a throw of 8 feet, 9 inches.

She also competed in the javelin at the event, earning a personal best of 24 feet.

Throughout the summer, Beard competes in the Club Northwest All Comers Meets in Shoreline, taking part in the shot put, hammer, javelin and running in the 50, 100, 200 meter events and the mile.
