Mycological Society hosts Garcia-Romeu

7:30 p.m. at the Baker Community Center (1401 Poplar St. in Everett). Albert Garcia-Romeu, a professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, will address the Snohomish County Mycological Society in a speech titled, “Exploring Psilocybin as a Tool for Modern Psychology and Medicine.” Recent pilot studies have shown safety and feasibility of psilocybin, found in some mushrooms of the genus Psilocybe, as a therapeutic tool in the treatment of depression, end-of-life anxiety, alcohol and tobacco use disorders.
