October enrollment exceeds forecast | School brief
The total enrollment in Mukilteo schools reached 14,915 students during the October count, which is 282 students higher than at the same time a year ago and is higher than what had been forecasted in the school district’s budget.
The biggest increase came at the elementary level, where the total headcount is 164 students higher than a year ago. High school enrollment also is up 128 students, compared to last year.
In a forecast released last spring, total elementary enrollment was expected to reach nearly 7,300 students by 2017, but this year’s October count of 7,118 students is well ahead of that forecast.
In fact, the number of elementary students counted this year has already exceeded the number that had been predicted for October 2014.
In terms of average annual full-time equivalent students, the number that is used to calculate state funding, this year’s October enrollment is about 84 students higher than what had been projected for the 2013-14 budget.
