Volunteers Chris Hoppe and Jolene Bailey load boxes of gift-filled shoeboxes on Nov. 16 into a trailer parked at Mukilteo Presbyterian Church. The church served as Snohomish County’s collection site Nov. 12-19 for Operation Christmas Child.

The shoeboxes – which are packed with school supplies, toys, toiletries, candy and letters – are delivered to needy children all over the world.

“You get to honestly feel like Santa Claus,” Hoppe said. “Imagine what their smiles will look like getting stuff that we take for granted.”

Church volunteers loaded more than 6,000 shoeboxes into the trailer by Nov. 19. For more information, go to www.samaritanspurse.org/occ.
